Improving your health to live a longer, better life can be as simple as socializing with your colleagues & trusting your instincts! These tips will boost your mood, too.

Feeling connected and fulfilled will improve your health and increase your lifespan - and boost your mood, to boot! Check out these tips for living a longer, happier life...

How to Improve Your Health and Live Longer

1. Socialize with colleagues. Having someone to chat with at the watercooler makes you feel connected and liked, which improves both health and lifespan. You don’t have to be best friends or go shopping together on Saturdays; just some social support at work is good for your mental and emotional health.

2. Trust your instincts. After you’ve made a decision, don’t second-guess or question yourself. If it’s a mistake, you’ll find out soon enough – and then you’ll fix it. Knowing that you can fix your mistakes can ease anxiety and depression, which will boost your mood!

3. Fall in love with your job. If you don’t like work, find a way out of there or create ways to enjoy it. People are rarely stuck (even when they feel that way!). You can go back to school, start a home business, seek a promotion or transfer, or change your attitude. Loving your job will improve your health and boost your mood.

4. Get quiet. Noise is disruptive, stressful, and unsettling. If you can’t shush your surroundings, get earphones and listen to white noise or relaxing music. Increase your energy and boost your mood by controlling what you hear.

5. Be slow to criticize. The more you criticize others, the worse you feel about them and yourself. A critical attitude reveals your own insecurities; work on self-acceptance which will lead to other-acceptance. You’ll feel better and be happier - and your health will improve.

6. Get along with your mother. People who get along with their moms have higher self-esteem and are more likely to feel great about life. Spend time with your mother, talk about unresolved issues – and practice acceptance.

7. End unhealthy relationships. Abusive, destructive, bad relationships will sap your energy and steal your soul. If you want to feel better and get happier, stand up for yourself and end unhealthy relationships. If you need help, get it fast. Learn how to set healthy boundaries - because life’s too short to waste in a bad relationship!

8. Cry. Physically, crying releases toxins and stressful chemicals from your body; emotionally, crying offers an outlet for stress and sadness. Expressing your feelings helps you feel better and gives you energy.

9. Let go of grudges. Holding a grudge is a barrier to getting happy and improving your health! Forgive so you can move on and feel better about yourself. Let it go, because grudges are harder on you than anyone else.

10. Exercise. The health benefits of exercise are too numerous to list – but some may surprise you! Exercise clears your skin, boosts your sex life, lifts self-esteem, builds your immune system, strengthens your brain and lightens anxiety and depression. You’ll look good and feel better when you sweat regularly - and your health will improve.

Another great way to boost your energy and help you to stay happy and healthy is to be sure that you are staying hydrated all the time. People underestimate the importance of drinking enough water on a daily basis. So drink up and enjoy.

What I do whenever I'm feeling sad is to go out running. I feel like I am just running away from my problems for a while. I also like to take my ipod with me. Music relaxes me for some reason. Sometimes I play guitar or write songs. Sometimes I draw or work on my art skills. I have a lot of ways to make myself feel better. I personally think it's better to have a backup plan in case my first one doesn't work. When I feel sad I like to be alone. I don't like to talk about my problems. People tell me I need to find my "inner peace". How gay is that? Usually my sadness turns into anger. I just don't like to talk about it.

What if # 6 contradicts #7? Lots of people have parents with inadequate to bad personal issues. What do you do when your mom is toxic for you?
